Summary

The first rule of book club: You don't talk about book club。

Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott's marriage is in major league trouble。 He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife Thea has always faked the Big O。 When he loses his cool at the revelation, it’s the final straw on their already strained relationship。 Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realizes he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him。

Welcome to the Bromance Book Club。

Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville's top alpha men。 With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage。 But it'll take a lot more than flowery words and grand gestures for this hapless Romeo to find his inner hero and win back the trust of his wife。

Reading this book for what it is: Preposterous silly stuff, fluff and nonsense。 The action was brisk and interspersed with a romance novel to top romance novels。

I was going to re-read Fix Her Up, but I was able to find Bromance Book Club from an eLibrary and my iPad was charged, so it seemed right to read a new book and by halfway through chapter two I was sending snippets to my friends。 Again, not as spicey as I usually read, but so good!

Contemporary romance is one of my favorite genres。That being said I’ve read a bunch of them, and this one is very unique in my opinion。 (Unless of course I’ve missed a whole bunch of books with a male perspective。)This book has been a main female character and a main male character。 They are already married so it’s not a meeting in fall in love type of contemporary romance。It also has a little inserts from a “book” That our male character is reading。I also think that this book is a very real por Contemporary romance is one of my favorite genres。That being said I’ve read a bunch of them, and this one is very unique in my opinion。 (Unless of course I’ve missed a whole bunch of books with a male perspective。)This book has been a main female character and a main male character。 They are already married so it’s not a meeting in fall in love type of contemporary romance。It also has a little inserts from a “book” That our male character is reading。I also think that this book is a very real portrayal of what it means to work in a relationship even after you’re married。It’s very fun! I liked this more than I thought I would, it was a cute story of how to keep fighting for one another in marriage。 I enjoyed the premise of a men's book club that reads romance novels as manuals to help their love lives。 I read it in just a few days, it was a quick and easy enjoyable read。 I liked this more than I thought I would, it was a cute story of how to keep fighting for one another in marriage。 I enjoyed the premise of a men's book club that reads romance novels as manuals to help their love lives。 I read it in just a few days, it was a quick and easy enjoyable read。 。。。more

This book was so cute。 I loved that it was the men reading the romance novels to help problems in their relationships。 I think every male in a relationship should have to read romance novels。 Can not wait to read the rest of the series。

Legendary。 Iconic。 Sweet。 Hilarious。 Gut wrenching。 All the things a second chance marriage romance should be

I started this book as an audiobook on a drive and finished it up via ebook。 I liked the way this book flipped the script a bit for a romance novel and that it also subtly deals with some elements of sexism in our society。 Bonus points that it’s set in the Nashville area (even if I don’t really count Franklin as Nashville)。

I really wish I was rooting for the main characters to get together。 It was an overall cute book but I missed a lot of backstory and getting to know the characters beforehand。 Alot of time I felt like I know what was goin to happen 😬 but it was an easy cute story。

#RomanceMonthMore like 1。5 to be honest。 Certain aspects were underdeveloped, other parts were rushed, and to be honest Thea's relationship hang-ups were so surface level it's a wonder she wasn't constantly tripping over them。 I'm glad it played out as it did at the end。It was fun watching the book club talk plot, backstory and character and the satirical element did tickle me。 #RomanceMonthMore like 1。5 to be honest。 Certain aspects were underdeveloped, other parts were rushed, and to be honest Thea's relationship hang-ups were so surface level it's a wonder she wasn't constantly tripping over them。 I'm glad it played out as it did at the end。It was fun watching the book club talk plot, backstory and character and the satirical element did tickle me。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Fun and entertaining。 Thea’s character is the reason for me giving this only 4 stars。 Thea’s childhood is the primary reason for her problems。 But there was very little detail about her childhood that in the end I couldn’t sympathise with Thea。 Gavin was so sweet and put so much effort in his relationship but again found Thea not doing much。 It was all about Gavin trying hard to make this relationship work。

I needed this book。 And I’m going to get candid and personal real quick and I’m sorry if that makes whoever is reading this uncomfortable but here we go lol。This book really resonated with me, it resonated me in ways I wish it didn’t solely because there were things in this book that the couple said or did that I myself have done or have been on the other side of。 As only a 24 year old who is in a 5 year relationship this book really was a reflection of feelings I’ve had (good and bad) and reall I needed this book。 And I’m going to get candid and personal real quick and I’m sorry if that makes whoever is reading this uncomfortable but here we go lol。This book really resonated with me, it resonated me in ways I wish it didn’t solely because there were things in this book that the couple said or did that I myself have done or have been on the other side of。 As only a 24 year old who is in a 5 year relationship this book really was a reflection of feelings I’ve had (good and bad) and really at the end I felt hope in myself and my relationship。 Not saying a work of fiction fixed me or did anything super life changing。 Really it could’ve just been right book right time? It just gave me some internal reflection I guess。 Truthfully this book was great! It was raw, sweet, a lil steamy, but overall heartwarming。 I’ve never read a book about rekindling love and finding your way back to your s/o。 It’s not glamorous to talk or read about for most people。 But for people who have gone through it or are going through it you definitely appreciate it on a different level。 I loved the guys from the bromance club and the support all Gavins friends gave。 I absolutely hated Thea’s sister in this lol and Thea herself had some very frustrating moments。 I was able to look past it because I kinda got it?? I didn’t like it but I understood。 Anyways this was definitely a worthwhile read and is probably one of my favorite adult romances。 also side not but their twin daughters were supposed to be like 2?? but we’re written like they were 5/6 years old and it bothered the hell out of me lol。 。。。more

I have recently discovered that I enjoy romantic comedy much more in literature than in movies。 Could it be because there are certain cheesinesses that through words are tolerable and even adorable, but in visuals they lead you to a continuous eye-rolling?In any case, my first steps in this genre have led me to discover this little gem that -despite having certain aspects that give for a whole separate review- is tremendously easy to read, entertaining, adorable, charismatic and fun。 And yes, th I have recently discovered that I enjoy romantic comedy much more in literature than in movies。 Could it be because there are certain cheesinesses that through words are tolerable and even adorable, but in visuals they lead you to a continuous eye-rolling?In any case, my first steps in this genre have led me to discover this little gem that -despite having certain aspects that give for a whole separate review- is tremendously easy to read, entertaining, adorable, charismatic and fun。 And yes, the main theme gives food for thought。Not the topic of second chances in love or how to rekindle love in marriage, which is also interesting。 But the fact that in the 21st century it is still innovative, modern and original the idea a group of men having:1。 A book club focused on romance novels。2。 A book club focused on romance novels created to understand women better and improve their relationships。 3。 A support group in which to talk about topics such as marriage, sex, family, toxic masculinity, feminism, equality, and the role of men and women in society。Yes, I too believe that it is still treated from a somewhat traditional point of view and that there are certain moments where Thea's character is still anchored in what is 'expected' of women in relationships and family life, but still, I am personally thankful for small steps forward like this。 I don't see it so much as a flaw in the character development or the story but rather as proof that, unfortunately, this is still the way things are today。This book doesn't give all the answers -nor does it claim to, its objective is clearly different-, but it does raise some interesting questions to say the least。 I would certainly pass it on to those male friends who live anchored in the 16th century and who would drop their hats and monocles imagining themselves talking about feelings with their other male friends。 God forbid, huh? So。。。 Fun, quick read, a little cheesy at times but。。。。 adorable! I wouldn't mind crashing a club meeting at all。。。 the interactions between the guys cracked me up。 Perfect for binge reading and for when you want to forget about the world for a little while。 。。。more

Into the bin we go。 I only made it twenty-four pages in。 The MC female lead is pretty much a horrible person who I cannot stand。 I just could see her as a stand in horrible family law case。 Really, she just starts breaking her husband's stuff because he left the house。 And she ASKED him to leave。 And when he comes back asking to stay she said because she left (when she asked) that their marriage wasn't work。 Also, then she asks him for the house right there and then and says that it can lower th Into the bin we go。 I only made it twenty-four pages in。 The MC female lead is pretty much a horrible person who I cannot stand。 I just could see her as a stand in horrible family law case。 Really, she just starts breaking her husband's stuff because he left the house。 And she ASKED him to leave。 And when he comes back asking to stay she said because she left (when she asked) that their marriage wasn't work。 Also, then she asks him for the house right there and then and says that it can lower the amount of child support。。。。Yeah。。。sure。。。。Anyway, mainly because I was envisioning a not too nice chat between me and Thea about destroying martial property I decided to end the book。To be fair, going in I knew there could possibly be issues。 The thing is some of the other books in the series interest me。 I am likely going to try them, but I just can't be bothered with the first book it really grated on me the wrong way。 Had Gavin actually been doing something to actually make the marriage bad like cheat on her, be abusive, or even neglectful I could understand Thea a little better but as it stands she was just mad at him because she didn't like how things were in bed and apparently he made her wear cute clothes (note, he actually didn't make her wear the Lily Pulitzer dresses she was bitching about she chose them herself)。 But because she wanted to be Not Like All the Other Girls and wear t-shirts and pajama jeans all day she broke up with him (I guess she doesn't realize it's 2021 and like none of us are wearing dress clothes unless we have to work in person and have a Zoom hearing or whatever)。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I had to dnf this and it sucks because i was actually excited to read it。 I genuinely thought it was gonna be cute and funny, and that i would root for Gavin in his quest of getting back his wife。 I thought i was gonna enjoy the banter with his friends and the whole book club situation going。 And to be honest, i was not wrong。 Those parts were actually entertaining and cute。 I enjoyed the acknowledgment of the toxic masculinity by these sporty huge men。 I enjoyed the relationship they have with I had to dnf this and it sucks because i was actually excited to read it。 I genuinely thought it was gonna be cute and funny, and that i would root for Gavin in his quest of getting back his wife。 I thought i was gonna enjoy the banter with his friends and the whole book club situation going。 And to be honest, i was not wrong。 Those parts were actually entertaining and cute。 I enjoyed the acknowledgment of the toxic masculinity by these sporty huge men。 I enjoyed the relationship they have with each other。 I even liked the sister dynamic with Liv and Thea; the twins were very cute, the whole “dealing with a divorce” and with your own messed up family past bits were good。 So why exactly did i dnf? Well, there’s only one reason, but it’s kind of。 A deal breaker (at least right now): i hated Thea and Gavin relationship。 It felt wrong, like, borderline toxic wrong。 Also, I’m sorry, but Gavin is a bit a douche and manipulative。 Love is not exactly a valid excuse to basically force your soon to be ex-wife into giving you a second chance。 I couldn’t stand it, so i had to dnf。 I started to read this book because i wanted something silly, cute and romantic, something easy to read that would also be entertaining without being too heavy。 And, to be fair to the book, it is all of those things。 But i also couldn’t stand the protagonists and that’s a deal breaker for me, when I’m trying to read about their love。 I want to root for their relationship you know? And i find myself unable to then I’m sorry, but it’s just not going to happpen。 Maybe I’ll pick this up again in a few months and feel differently。 Maybe this is one of those book I’ll just never finish。 。。。more

RATING: 4。5 out of 5 starsI thoroughly enjoyed this book。 I love how Lyssa Kay Adams gave me some food for thought as I read the story of Gavin and Thea--about being in a relationship, communication, understanding and accepting the flaws of your partner and a whole lot more。 I also love the friendship dynamic of 'The Bromance Book Club'。 My favorite would be Braden Mack and I am astonished when I realized he will be the lead guy on this series。 The reason why I didn't gave this book a full 5 sta RATING: 4。5 out of 5 starsI thoroughly enjoyed this book。 I love how Lyssa Kay Adams gave me some food for thought as I read the story of Gavin and Thea--about being in a relationship, communication, understanding and accepting the flaws of your partner and a whole lot more。 I also love the friendship dynamic of 'The Bromance Book Club'。 My favorite would be Braden Mack and I am astonished when I realized he will be the lead guy on this series。 The reason why I didn't gave this book a full 5 star is because I feel like the ending is underwhelming。 The 'grand' action near the end would have been better off as the final scene (this is just my own opinion and preference)。 Also, Liv kinda annoys me here--which is why I'm also scared to read the second book since she's the main lead there。 But it would be exciting, for sure, to see her and Mack's dynamic。 I can't wait and also for the rest of this series and other members of The Bromance Book Club。I cannot say much about this book without making this review being somewhat 'spoilery'。 But what I can absolutely say for now is that I love this book and I love how different this one feels from the other Contemporary Romance books that I had read。 P。S。 Is the inside story, 'Courting the Countess' a real book though? 'Cause I would love to read that one too--if given chance and if it was an actual standalone book。 。。。more

I've been hearing RAVE reviews about this book, so I was thrilled to finally pick it up。 And once I picked it up I really couldn't put it down。 Lyssa Kay Adams crafts hilarious, witty characters who get themselves into all sorts of trouble。 In the best way。 This focuses on Gavin Scott whose wife, Thea, has just asked for a divorce after he reacted verrrryyy badly to some information that he received about some。。ahem。。。embellishments of her experiences。 So, in comes Del, Mack, Malcolm and the Rus I've been hearing RAVE reviews about this book, so I was thrilled to finally pick it up。 And once I picked it up I really couldn't put it down。 Lyssa Kay Adams crafts hilarious, witty characters who get themselves into all sorts of trouble。 In the best way。 This focuses on Gavin Scott whose wife, Thea, has just asked for a divorce after he reacted verrrryyy badly to some information that he received about some。。ahem。。。embellishments of her experiences。 So, in comes Del, Mack, Malcolm and the Russian - part of the Bromance Book Club。 Can we agree how GREAT a concept this is?? Adorable。 It's also kind of feminist in some ways (along with many moments in this book where there's explicit commentary on it。)。 Of course, there's also some great commentary on relationships:“Men are idiots。 We complain that women are so mysterious and shit, and we never know what they want。 We fuck up our relationships because we convince ourselves that it’s too hard to figure them out。 But the real problem is with us。 We think we’re not supposed to feel things and cry and express ourselves。 We expect women to do all the emotional labor in a relationship and then act confused when they give up on us。”Lyssa Kay Adams crafts some wonderful dialogue (and internal monologue) like this:The man tugged on his suspenders。 “Whatcha knockin’ down?” “Patriarchal power structures。” He blinked。 “A wall。”And she also builds the tension + relationship between Gavin and Thea extraordinarily well。 You can see how there's real depth to her characters。 Their initial conflict isn't just about miscommunication。 Rather, it's a function of their own insecurities and experiences which results in poor communication。 Also side note - the whole 'reading together in bed' was SO CUTE。 The TENSION throughout this。。。 IMMACULATE!I'm also SO EXCITED TO READ MACK'S STORY。 He's exactly the sort of character that I love to read (well, one of many types)。 He's this funny, flirty guy who has surprising levels of depth and I ADORE THAT - as I think we all do。 Like get you a man who can comment on things like the toxic masculinity associated with the denigration of a pumpkin spice latte AND also follow around his friends on dates in a 'disguise'。 Oh and his comments on Pinterest AHAHAH 。。。more

。。。more
